What does a translation cost?
The cost of a translation depends on several factors, such as the language combination, the subject area, the scope of the text and the desired delivery date.
To give you a clear idea right from the start, here are some points of reference:
General texts: from € 0.15 per word
Specialist translations (e.g. legal, medical or technical texts): from €0.25 per word
- Non-editable text, poor readability, use of rare, technical terms/linguistic complexity: from €0.50 per word
Certified translations: from €50 depending on the document
Express translations: On request, we offer an express service with a surcharge.
Our prices include proofreading, layout adjustments and statutory VAT.

Why are translations so expensive?
A translation can be expensive for several reasons:
- Specialist knowledge: Good translators not only have language skills, but also specialist knowledge (e.g. in law, medicine or technology). Such specialized knowledge increases the price.
- Quality and accuracy: A precise translation requires care, research and stylistic sensitivity - that takes time and experience.
- Certifications: Certified translations (e.g. of documents) require sworn translators who are specially trained and certified.
- Time required: A high-quality translation takes time - even short texts need to be read, understood, researched and stylistically adapted.
- Target group-specific adaptation: Often the text not only needs to be translated, but also localized, i.e. adapted to cultural differences - this is more than "just" translating.
What is included in the price?
To ensure that you receive an all-round coherent result, our translations already include proofreading, layout adjustments and VAT.
How quickly is the translation completed?
Normal delivery time: For smaller projects (e.g. 1-2 A4 pages) you can usually expect 5-7 working days.
Rush service / express translation: If the translation has to be completed on the same day or within a few hours, a rush surcharge is often charged (typically 50-70% surcharge).
Size of the project: For larger texts or very complex specialist texts, you should allow more time - a daily output of approx. 2,000-3,000 words is often estimated.
